Contemporary Fine Art, Prints, and Books Opening Reception: Sat, July 26th @ 7pm-9pm

Records of Time is a show inspired by the structures of San Francisco, using figures in industrial landscapes to create modern narratives. Brad Wilson’s intricately detailed canvases have a depth that is achieved through his unique style of layering and incorporation of patterns. Brad lives and works in the city and holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Art from The Academy of Art University. His work is available as prints as well as in a book, also titled “Records of Time”.

Join us on Saturday, July 26th at 7pm for the opening of Brad Wilson’s show: “Records of Time”. Get there early for food, drinks, a chance to chat with Brad, and a first look at this show.

Also, check out our new calendar of events and add it to your google calendar or embed it on your homepage so that you never miss another event here at double punch.

Piximix Show Wrap Up at Groove Effect

Tuesday, July 08, 2008
Melissa sends up word of coverage of the Piximix and wrap up the Piximix show.  You can check it out right at this link or read it below.

If you weren’t at Double Punch this Friday, you missed Piximix’s opening reception, “Say Hello to Piximix”. Not to worry, though, I’ve got the scoop on the show, including pictures of the night’s festivities, which will be up through the month of June.

Piximix is character art gone wild. Kyle Hoyt, Catherine Maske, Garth Webb, and Rhandee Leaño combine their collective backgrounds in web design, animation, toy design, (award winning) character development, and general computer savvy to bring us such character lines as Pixipets, The Kaboom Bros., The Appley Rotten Gang, and The World of Minimids. Plus, they’re constantly conspiring to bring us new lines, which you can check out as they are released to their website.

“Say Hello to Piximix” showcases the group’s character lines through fine art prints and one-of-a-kind plush collectibles, handmade by Catherine. The show, which will remain up through the end of the month, also uses the gallery space as a pop-up shop complete with tee shirts, comic books, stickers, and the “Buttom-O-matic”, a capsule vending machine, which gives the gang’s new school designs some old school charm. The prints, which are made to order, were selling like hot cakes last Friday, and can be ordered through Double Punch, or special ordered to arrive right at your front door via Ningyoushi[dot]com.

Up next for Piximix, who are regulars at San Jose’s AnnualFanimeCon and San Francisco’sCapsule Design Festival, is a trip down south this July 4th weekend for LA’s Anime Expo 2008. Check out their newly remodeled website to keep up with future events, both locally and abroad.

Double Punch’s gallery is open during all regular store hours, and is located in North Beach at 1821 Powell (at Washington Square Park).

For questions, comments, or submissions regarding this or any future shows, email melissa@doublepunch.com

For more info about Piximix, be sure to check out their website.
