Sun-Min+David THINGS at Double Punch
Monsters, eyeballs, eyelashes, pink tongues and bossy bears will scare the hell out of San Francisco and charm it with complete ugliness and cuteness. Ugly Doll and Bossy Bear founders David Horvath and Sun Min Kim will be celebrated at the double punch gallery by presenting some “things” from their collection of work from 2001 to 2008. This captures the best of what they made in the past
7 years of their collaboration as toy designers. The selection includes collectibles such as Kaiju, Noupa, Uglydoll vinyls, Choco and Minty, Bossy Bear and Spider Boom. Warning: some of the pieces are long sold out and very rare.
Sun Min Kim and David Horvath’s collaboration work has been found
everywhere from the windows of Barney’s New York and in exhibitions at
the Louvre in Paris to your local mom and pop comic book shop. Their
Uglydoll plush line has won several awards usually grabbed up by the
more mainstream toy companies, including the 2006 International Toy
Fair T.I.A. Toy of the year award. Their children’s book series Bossy Bear
from Disney Publishing is now being translated into several languages,
and their Uglydoll Ugly Guide book series from Random House has gone
into it’s 3rd printing.
